One Hectic But Fulfilling Rotary Day
A Day in the Life of a D3830 Rotary Club President

Pres Alice Lucas, RC Taguig West

Last July 24, 2008, my club, RC Taguig West, had a joint meeting with Pres. Lenny Carrillo’s RC Rizal West.  Prior to the meeting proper, a videoke system was the subject of interest by some aspiring singers of RCRW and other would-be performing artists from Rotary who entertained us with gusto.  Other being an outstanding service club, RCRW should also be recognized for its members’ hidden showbiz talents!

The joint meeting was well attended, enough to fill up the Zobel Room of the Makati Sports Club, making the two presidents beam with pride.  And, it was surely a very fruitful learning experience for the members present.  Information on current and upcoming projects and activities were discussed and willingly shared among Rotarians.

What made it more interesting was the guest speaker’s topic.  Ambassador Cesar Bautista talked about "Rotary's Gift to the New Generation" where he elaborated subjects on employment and economics that are highly relevant to our times.  He gave some figures on employment strategies of some companies who have adopted the Dual Training System popularized by GTZ (Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit), a German international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations.

Rotarians present were so immersed on the guest speaker’s topic that they remained silent until it was time for the open forum.  Ambassador Bautista’s talk is no less than authoritative for he gained his knowledge and wisdom from many years of a dedicated career in government foreign service and in trade and industry.  He’s now active in various private business ventures.

It was a very hectic schedule for me to attend to my first hour schedule for Christophe's memorable induction (RC Makati Ayala) at Manila Golf Club and then moved to Makati Sports Club for the joint meeting with RCRW and, finally, to Abet's "magical" induction at Manila Polo Club.  What a very exciting and fulfilling day having met all my commitments to my fellow club presidents.

Another thing, it was announced that day that the wake of Pres Lenny's brother was at the Sacred Heart Church in Dao St., Makati City.  Despite this situation, Pres Lenny still presided with me at the meeting.  It was good that I attended Pres Abet's induction and was able to relay the news to DG Boyet Limon who was really surprised of what happened.  The Real Good Presidents decided to visit the wake that night to condole with Dr. Lenny Carrillo and his family.

That’s D3830 Rotary family, no less.
